Montgomery County Public School District with over 180 schools, constitutes the nation's eighth largest school system and stands as the highest performing area among Maryland's larger districts. Close to 90% of our high school graduates go on to college or university.

Montgomery County Public Schools received a record-setting budget this year of $1.2 billion--an increase of $111.7 million -- for critical school-based improvements. At the state level, too, Montgomery County state senators and delegates worked closely with county and state leaders to win a record-breaking $51.2 million in state school construction funding. And, as if all that wasn't news enough, a comprehensive six-year facilities plan of $655.4 million, called the "Capital Improvements Program" (CIP), has been developed to support new and expanded educational programs. This plan, based on a careful assessment of existing facilities by the Board of Education, will provide our county with new schools, additional classrooms and gymnasiums, and updated facilities to serve a growing enrollment.
