Home Improvements

There are many TV shows these days that discuss what it takes to improve your home to make it a good “investment”.  The problem with these shows is that often a home’s improvement value is dependent upon regions and sometimes down to the community where a home is located.   

Let’s face it, sometimes home improvements are simply for your enjoyment in the home and it matters little what the general public think when it comes to that improvement.  But be aware that certain improvements can actually be a deterrent to future sale or devalue a home as well.  ROI or Return on Investment is a term you should know when making home improvements based upon building home equity.  A knowledgeable Realtor can help you determine what improvements for your neighborhood and area will bring you the most value even if you are not looking to sell right away.

    Only a few short years ago, even Real Estate Agents did not know what a short sale was!  My, how things have changed... 

    Banks have estimated that the majority of short sales will have been processed by 2014.  More than 1 in 4 of all homes are now backed my mortgages that are worth more than the collateral that secures them: the homes themselves! 

    The Department of the Treasury recently put out a new progam called HAFA (Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternative), which should make things more standardized...
